Performance and achievements

​Schools are busy places - learning happens in a variety of ways, and at Townsville Central we encourage students to participate in a range of competitions.

Over the past few years our students have enjoyed success in both individual and group/team competitions. Some of these achievements are listed below.

2016

  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Band/Orchestra - 1st place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Percussion Ensemble - 3rd place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Wind Ensemble - 3rd place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Brass Ensemble - Highly Commended
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Year 6 & under - Novelty Chorus - Highly Commended
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Year 6 & under - Folk Singing Unison or Partwork - Highly Commended
  • Opti-minds - language & literature NQ region - second place
  • Opti-minds - science & engineering NQ region - second place
  • Opti-minds - social science NQ region - second place
     

2015

  • Opti-minds - science & engineering Australia - honours (2nd place)
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Year 6 & under - Novelty Chorus - 3rd place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Year 6 & under - Folk Singing Unison or Partwork - 3rd place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Senior Choir Championship - Year 6 & under - Australian Chorus - 2nd place

  • Opti-minds - science & engineering NQ region - first place
  • Townsville School Sport C schools swimming carnival - first place, average and most improved trophies

2014

  • Year 4/5/6 Science group - 1st place - DAFF Hermitage Schools Plant Science Competition (year 3-6 section)

  • Year 4/5/6 Science group - Joe Baker Outstanding Achievement Award - DAFF Hermitage Schools Plant Science Competition (year 3-6 section)

  • Fanfare - School band - Gold

  • Fanfare - Strings ensemble - Bronze

  • Townsville Primary School Sport D schools swimming carnival - first place and average trophies

2013

  • Year 4-6 Science group - 1st place - DAFF Hermitage Schools Plant Science Competition (year 3-6 section)
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Show Choir year 5-7 Novelty Section - 1st place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Junior Choir year 2-5 Junior Championship Section - Highly Commended
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Year 3 Speech Choir - Year 3 & under Unison - Highly Commended
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Year 4 Speech Choir - Year 5 & under - Highly Commended & 3rd place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Year 6/7 Speech Choir - Year 7 & under - Highly Commended & 2nd place

2012

  • Year 7 Science group - 1st place - DAFF Hermitage Research Facility Schools Plant Science Competition (year 7-10 section)
  • Year 7 Science group - Joe Baker Outstanding Achievement Award - DAFF Hermitage Research Facility Schools Plant Science Competition (year 7-10 section)
  • Year 5 Science group - 3rd place - DAFF Hermitage Research Facility Schools Plant Science Competition (year 3-6 section)
  • School representatives (year 7) presented speeches at the Townsville Grammar Inter-School Public Speaking Competition - finalist and 1st place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod – Public Speaking - three school representatives  - 2nd place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Drama Enrichment year 3 Speech Choir - 1st place and Adjudicators Choice Award - all groups and year levels eligible
  • Townsville Eisteddfod - Drama Enrichment  year 5-7 Speech Choir-  2nd place and Highly Commended
  • Townsville Eisteddfod – Show Choir year 5-7 Novelty Section - 1st place
  • Townsville Eisteddfod – Junior Choir – 3rd place
  • Townsville City Council Sustainability Awards - 1st place in schools section - student art work and written report on sustainability practices at our school
  • Australian Recycled Carton board Campaign – participation. Students designed and implemented a media campaign including; stock animation movies, songs, slideshows, pamphlets and posters
  • Australian Marine Environment Education Calendar Competition - three students had artwork selected for the 2013 calendar
